The Ivie and JRC-IPTS have launched the DICTA project
The main purpose of the project is to collect and process data on the ICT sector and data on research, development and innovation of ICT in the EU and other developed countries, as well as in the world’s emerging economies.
The Ivie has been selected to develop the European project ‘Data for European ICT industries analysis’ (DICTA) directed by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (Institute for Prospective Technological Studies JRC-IPTS).
The objective of this project is to develop databases to analyze the ICT sector, the media and content sector and e-commerce sector: their main economic variables and R&D related activities, ICT international trade data, etc. The project also includes the study of the public expenditure on R&D related to ICT, ICT investments in each sector and, finally, the development of a “nowcasting” methodology for the main variables of the project.
The series will begin with year 2006 with information for the EU, its Member States and some of the major world economies (USA, Canada, Australia, China, Japan, etc.)
The project is estimated to last two years.
