The Ivie celebrates its 25th Anniversary and presents its commemorative report Twenty-five Years Promoting Economic Research

Ivie’s 25th Anniversary celebration took place on Thursday, May 12, with a special act at ADEIT University-Enterprise Foundation titled 25 years promoting economic research.

The event had a great success and counted with the presence of numerous authorities, representatives of the Valencian universities and business organizations, and the civil society as a whole.

The session was introduced by Pilar Chorén, Ivie General Manager, followed by the Minister for Finance and the Economic Model of Valencia and President of the Ivie, Vicent Soler.

Then, a round table discussion was held on the prospects and challenges of the Spanish economy moderated by Joaquín Maudos, Ivie Research Deputy Director, with the participation of Fernando Fernández, Economics Professor at IE Business School, Matilde Mas, Ivie International Projects Director and Emilio Ontiveros, President of AFI. The debate addressed issues such as the effectiveness of the 2012 labor reform, productivity problems in Spain, or the challenges the banking industry faces in regaining profitability.

The closing ceremony was presided by Francisco Pérez, Ivie Research Director, Esteban Morcillo, Principal of the University of Valencia and Ximo Puig, President of the Valencian Government, who highlighted Ivie’s part in bringing attention to the underfinancing problems of the Valencian Community and the Institute’s independence as the key to its success.
