The new map of the world economy
"Emerging economies are essential to bring the world economy out of the recession", as stated in this video by Mauricio Cardenas, senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and former Minister of Economic Development and Transport of Colombia. The economist points out the differences between what we know collectively as "emerging economies" and explains that a group of leaders such as China, Chile, Brazil and Uruguay will soon be in the category of advanced countries. In addition to detailing some of the economic and social advances that have occurred recently in Latin America, Cardenas talks about the Spanish economy. "I have a more positive view than that of markets today", he says.
Mauricio Cardenas participated in the BBVA Foundation-Ivie Seminar 2011 Spanish competitiveness in a new era in the global economy.
